Ronald Schmidt II – Prison Penpal #072313-2204
July 23, 2013 ¤ Male Inmates Age 31 - 35
I grew up in Moline, Illinois.
My parents divorced when I was 8 years old. That was very hard for me. I was not very close to my mom. But when my father married my Step-mom, I didn’t want to accept her. I was 13 when they married and we moved to Milan. I didn’t like it there.
I fell into the wrong group of kids. I stopped doing things I usually had done and started riding BMX. After getting into a little trouble, I eventually dropped out of high school. It was then that my father kicked me out of the house. So I lost contact with him for a few years.
In that time, I went to jail for the first time. When I got out, I joined Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus. I got to travel and learn a lot about animals. Every week we traveled to different states and cities.
Before leaving, I spent a lot of time talking to a girl I had met online, and when I was in St. Louis she came there and we wound up spending the next nine years together. She gave me three beautiful kids, which are my pride and joy 2 boys and a girl).
My life went bad when I was introduced to cocaine. I always had to have it, and my addiction got worse and worse. I really wish I had gone to rehab when I had the chance. Now that I am finally clean, I have never felt better.
Some of the things I enjoyed doing was fishing, riding bikes, taking walks in the woods and spending time with my kids. Now, I would love the opportunity to help kids who are heading down the wrong path. If I could just help one kid, I would feel better about everything I have experienced.
I have experienced so much in my life and have learned a lot. I love to watch racing, news and history related shows. I am learning to draw and love reading magazines and newspapers. I believe in honesty.
I am looking for someone to be friends with, that I can write. It’s nice to have someone that could offer some advice and help me understand the Bible. So, as you can see, I have been pretty much on my own since I was sixteen.
I don’t really have much family. My mother died when I was sixteen and two years later my grandma passed on. I was really close with her. She took me fishing and things like that. I would say she was more of a mother cause she raised me more than my mom.
I enjoy reading about animals in the wild. If they had a school here I would get my GED. But there is no school available. I don’t receive many letters. I am hoping that will change. I am working hard on my spelling and writing.
Some of the most rewarding work I have ever done was when I would stop and help someone broke-down or filling sandbags during a flood. I find it rewarding to be able to help someone when the opportunity presents itself.
I will answer any questions you may have. There are really no wrong questions. Feel free to ask what you like. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
