In this age, lies are the universal lubricant of our culture.

A love of truth and a commitment to it are seldom rewarded, and often punished. But, the lies you tell yourself are the worst. If one cannot face every truth about oneself, you will not know who you really are.

So who am I? Is that the question, yes. Well… my name is Issac James Blackmon. I’, a 38 year old inmate incarcerated in the state of California. I was born in Memphis, Tennessee, raised in a broken home in Long Beach, California by a single parent.

I am a survivor of both physical and sexual abuse as a child, and for a minute I was named Mr. Pessimism because I felt that all of humanity had fallen from grace–far too many among humankind eagerly embrace darkness. Sowing the world with cruelty and feeding on the misery of others, falling down and down thrilled by the plummet.

I mean, you must admit that these are extrordinary times. People in love with violencem who blame victims for their suffering, and excuse murderers in the name of justice. These are times still hampered by Utopian schemes that nearly destroyed civilization in the previous centuries.

Ideological wrecking balls that swung through the early years of this millenium with diminishing force, but with sufficient residual power to demolish the hopes of multitudes if sane men and women are not vigilant. Our society is very ugly, but truth resides in ugliness as well as beauty. The truth might be that an enduring fault in the human heart wakes power, greed and violence which is perversly attractive.

But, enough philosophy about our society, maybe a topic for another discussion. Let me enlighten you about who I am as a person.

I grew up in Long Beach, California, one brother, two sisters, never used drugs. I also avoided gangs and gun violence. Had dreams of military and college, but my environment worked against me and instead I wound up in prison. But I do consider myself to be lucky as I’m alive and healthy and not dead among the many who lose their lives to the streets.

I’m crazy to say this but prison was the best thing to happen to me because I was out of control commiting crimes. It woke me up to a new understanding — the proverbial silver lining. But even with all the bad behavior, an augment can be made that I had fared better than some who made far more responsible decisions. So let me be thankful that things are not a lot worse.

Now, I live to do the right things. To impact peoples lives in a positive way. Especially the young ones. Honor, fortitude, trust, devotion, love, achievment, compassion, honesty, understanding and faith. Thats what its all about. Whats done cannot be undone, one thing you learn from lifes experiences is to face reality of existence and not live with the illusion that wrong is wrong and right is right. Sometimes wrong is right and right is wrong and most of the time neither word applies, we think, do, accept, move on, forgive and forget. Nobodys perfect, we all make mistakes. The key is to learn from our mistakes.

I have some expectations for potential pen-pals, because lets be honest, you cannot please everyone and I am not going to try. The kind of ladies I would like to write are those with personality traits such as — open minded, flat out honesty, confidence, self-esteem, common sense, intelligence, and someone with a bit of a wild side.

I’m open minded myself, who loves to think deep, and contemplate philosophy. I enjoy running and yoga. I am in tip top shape because i believe physical fitness is key to happiness. I love to draw and create things out of nothing. I have a passion for music, mainly alternative, but reggae, jazz, and r&b are not far behind. I am a believer of God but do answer to a specific religon.

I am looking to establish a relationship, and to be happy, and if happiness is what you’re hoping for, dreaming for, then you take chances on potential happiness. So, if you like what you have heard, if you dare to climb aboard this spaceship and take an exciting trip across the voids of space to distant galexies in search of strange new life, then I reccomend you grab your spacesuit and hold on tight. And oh yeah, you may want to buckle up.
