Zachary Lintz – Inmate Penpal #051417-2208
May 14, 2017 ¤ Male Inmates Age 26 - 30
Since the day of my arrest, I’ve been fighting to overcome prejudices and assumptions.
When I write my memoirs (one day soon, I swear) I’ll title them More Than a Conviction or 1,000 Ways to Prevent Yourself from Murdering Your Cellmate. (Spoiler alert: most of them involve sleeping as much as possible.) Note: If a convicted felon making casual murder jokes strikes you as inappropriate, our sense of humor as likely incompatible. Just know they are nothing more than jokes.
Anywho more than a conviction. I’ve struggled with not letting my single biggest mistake in my life define who I am or who I am going to be going forward. And that’s really all I am looking for here: a chance to be a person again. An opportunity to become a friend to someone who can see past a mugshot. An opening to be who I am, not what I did.
Some facts about me:
I’m supported by a very loving family, so you don’t have to worry about me asking you for anything.
I’ve been a fan of the written word since I was a kid, so you can expect prompt and thorough responses to each and every letter you send.
I’m always picked second or third for kickball, so you know well, this won’t probably help you much {smile}
I was a bartender at an upscale jazz and cocktail bar for quite a few years before my incarcerations, so I’ve got both stories and recipes. Plus, being able to talk to anyone about anything was part of the job, so you can expect witty and urbane letters in your mailbox. (Nothing worse than a chronically bored and boring pen pal, am I right?)
I’ve managed to keep my spirit alive and my sense of humor intact. Surprisingly, they cannot confiscate either your gumption or moxie. Though they sure do try with many strips searches!
My mom and family as convinced I am a better and stronger person because of all this dang hardship, and if you know if a mom says it, it must be true! She also thinks I am handsome. :^) Even without Google or Wikipedia for the past few years, I am still a stellar addition to a trivia team. (Harry Potter trivia being a specialty of mine.)
Bottom-line, prison is hard and prison is lonely. Even with a fantastic support system, I am starved for genuine friendship and affection. I LOVE writing letters, I just wish I received them more often. (Hence the penpal-seeking.) If any part of this describe yourself to perfect strangers in a few paragraphs or less biography made you laugh or smile, then I’m sorry I no more jokes right now. Zero. Zilch until we write. Talk to you soon!
