Clinton Northcutt – Inmate Penpal #053112-0052
May 31, 2012 ¤ Death Row Prison Penpals, Male Inmates Age 31 - 35
My name is Clinton, and I have been on death row for eight years.
Only recently have I started to dip my toe into the proverbial pool of pen-paling. I had all this free time, so I decided to do something positive in this negative environment. That’s one of the reasons I’ve embarked on this journey.
Before I begin, I want to make it clear that I’m not seeking any manner of monetary assistance. Just friendship.
As I’m sure some of you may have researched me (before or after reading my profile) let me spend a few minutes talking about my crime. Although it was a horrific accident, I do take responsibility for my actions, and will spend the rest of my life wishing I could change what happened.
My deep remorse for what I did almost destroyed me; including numerous suicide attempts and even wanting the State to execute me.
It took a long time, but God finally broke through my wall of grief. He convinced me that He loves and forgives me; that I can be saved. I have been a Christian ever since. Because of His mercey and grace, I’m able to live my life with an optomistic attitude.
The last eleven years have been some of the most difficult and life-changing. Through everything, I now strive to have as much of a positive impact on my relationships as possible. I know I can never make amends for what I’ve done, but that won’t keep me from trying.
Even though I’m a Christian, my faith is personal, and I don’t try to force my thoughts and beliefs on anyone.
I’m an open-minded, glass half-full kind of guy who enjoys meeting new people. I like writing and recieving letters. They bring a ray of sunshine into my otherwise ordinary day. Since I am thankful that someone took time out of their busy day to write me a letter, I will respond to every one that I recieve.
I do not offend easily unless presented with hostility and outright disrespect.
With a decent knowledge of current events, I’m receptive to all topics of conversation. I also like learning about all areas of life.
My taste in movies, shows, music and fiction novels is quite varied. I love watching movies. From “Ghost” and “Titanic” to “Iron Man” and “Transformers”. At the risk of seeming less masculine, I must admit that I’ve shed a tear or two over sad or happy endings in movies like “City of Angels”, other shows and books.
My favorite movie of all time is “The Story of Us” starring Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer. An excellent movie. If you haven’t seen it, I highly reccomend it. A wonderful love story.
In music, I listen to everything from R&B to classical and everything in between. Heavy metal and Christian Contemporary are my favorites. I know, quite a combination, huh?
Some of the singers/groups I like are Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, Need to Breathe, Flyleaf, Korn, Staind, Metallica, Mudvayne, Celine Dion, Alison Krauss and Whitney Houston.
The shows I watch are all over the place too. Some of them are “Castle”, “GCB”, “The Mentalist”, “The Vampire Diaries”, “Nikita”, “Once Upon a Time” and “Grimm”.
I will read any book’ even a non-fiction one on the rare occasion. But I enjoy reading fantasy and supernatural books the most. Some of the authors I like are Robert B. Parker (Spencer Novels), Christine Feehan, Dick Francis, Kim Harrison, Robin Cook, and Nora Roberts.
Along with reading, I try to keep my brain active by doing crossword and other puzzles. I’m also attempting to learn spanish, though it’s a lot harder than I originally thought.
I’m an avid sports fan, but I can discuss other things. I like football, basketball and racing. In regards to football and basketball, I follow both college and pro. My favorite teams are the Carolina Panthers, Miami Heat, and anything Clemson Tigers. I also enjoy watching the Olympics.
Well, I think that about wraps it up. I hope some of you will give me the opportunity to show that some of the views about inmates are incorrect. We (especially death row) are so often stereotyped, but many of us are actually pretty decent guys who have each experienced an incredibly bad and tragic moment in life. Our lives are not defined by that moment.
Before I go, I would like to thank every one of you for visiting my page and reading my profile. I appreciate your time.
Lastly, if you want a friend who will listen, someone you can vent your frustrations to, or just someone to talk to, I welcome your letters. I look forward to hearing from you.
