James Harris – Inmate Penpal #010912-0123
January 9, 2012 ¤ Male Inmates Age 51 +
Hello potential pen-pal. I am writing with the hope one person will sense I would make a great pen-pal for them.
For the past few months I’ve discovered an increasing ache in my heart to communicate with a woman about life, their life, my life, and of the love of God in our lives. Life in prison is surrounded by men 24-7. My hope is for female companionship through sharing our thoughts, emotions and perspectives.
It still seems so strange that I am incarcerated, which has been the case for nearly a year. My case is on appeal. It is in the Lords hands. That is a story for another time, which I will gladly share.
Though I am divorced, I have a wonderful family of adult children who are supportive in every way. My sister and my boyhood friend regularly write. However, the need for a female friend, a Christian woman, who could relate to me, learn something of me and me of them, would be a true encouragment.
I have lived in New England (near cape cod) all my life. I am a Vietnam Veteran, college graduate, just starting the 60’s and in very good health – thank God. For a number of years I pastored a Christian Church. I enjoy many things in life: music (a drummer for years), light artwork, walking beaches and forest trails, even shopping malls.
Some interests are movies, reading, some political discussions, sports… I have a pilots license, love boating, fishing, and certainly spiritual discussions and activities.
I love the Lord, the bible, and His purposes. If it weren’t for the care and love of the Lord there would be little hope or joy in my life.
My incarceration will not be long (in relative terms), even if the appeal languishes. The expected end will be soon after the summer of 2013.
My hope is that my pen-pal will be honest, as I will be, exciting and willing to provide time to develop and maintain a meaningful dialogue. Ask me anything, I will always answer truthfully. It would be fun and encouraging to see the dynamics of a relationship with a wonderful pen-pal.
Could that be you? I hope so…
