Dexter Curtis – Inmate Penpal #062013-0038
June 20, 2013 ¤ Male Inmates Age 51 +
Hello, my name is Dexter and I’m looking for friends to write me, and I’ve chosen Saint Michael Outreach Ministries.
I’m originally from Shreveport, Louisiana. I’ve lived in Phoenix for 30 years off and on. I’m just an ordinary guy, I’ve made my share of mistakes. I realize that sometimes life is not always fair, we live and learn.
We take the good with the bad, we accept our losses and count our blessings. It is as our life continues on that we persevere. I am a God fearing man, a man of reason and I like to enjoy the finer things in life.
I believe in the traditional, domestic life-style. I feel that one of the most important career choices a man makes is whom to marry. I am laid-back, easy-going, understanding, intense at times, energetic type of man.
I am a Christian man who truly believes in God. I am a Democrat, but I am not too wrapped up in politics., although I do have my concerns about our Government and the managing of public affairs.
I love walks through the park, picnics by the beach, traveling, listening to all types of good music. Being from the south, you know I love to cook, I also love to eat (you heard me). I still like a fine night on the town, a movie and some dancing.
One of my favorite films is the 1994 movie ‘The Shawshank Redemption’. I enjoy a candle-lite dinner, a good game of pool, racquetball, watching sports, going to church on Sunday, and some old fashioned afternoon fishing.
I’m just being a man about it, it’s never hard for me to say the things I want to say. I don’t practice drama, I’m open-minded, with a free spirit, I give my heart 100%.
I’m big on communication, lets talk about it, I don’t make excuses, I’m not demanding, I appreciate understanding with a smile.
I try to keep myself busy constructively while I’m here. I’m really big on fitness and health, I train very hard. I’ve completed a few classes, cultural diversity, cognitive restructuring.
I’ve also worked on a crew to build the Golden Valley Fire Station for fifty-cents an hour, ten hours a day, five days a week. Doing time ain’t no joke, it can make you or break you. At the end of the day it’s all what you make of it.
I rock a bald head like you see in my photos, it is what it is, they were taken on the 4th of July, 2012. Right now my mustache sports a little grey. But it’s all good. With age comes wisdom, understanding and peace of mind.
Watching what I eat is something I really try to stay conscious about. The food up in here just ain’t all that by far at times, I stay away from salt. When I can, I order my beans, rice, oatmeal, and peanut butter from the inmate commissary. I don’t smoke, I drink coffee, usually in my mornings or before working-out.
Before I close I’d like to say thank you for your time, patience and your interest. I am really looking forward to hearing from you. Until then, take care and may God bless you in everything you do…
