Emmanuel Grant – Inmate Penpal #082913-0315
August 29, 2013 ¤ Male Inmates Age 36 - 40
I will be released from prison in a few years.
I’m just looking to meet some nice people in order to build some lasting friendships. I’ve been incarcerated since I was sixteen years old. I come from a broken home and practically raised myself. My mother was an addict and my dad was a no-show, so I grew up in foster homes before my grandmother gained custody.
In my grandmother’s home, I became a victim of sexual, physical and mental abuse. I was molested by a female cousin, and I was abused nearly every other way by everyone else in our household.
I tried to tell my grandmother, but she dismissed my claims and this caused me to lose trust. I started spending more and more time by myself, and this is where I discovered my talent for poetry and songwriting. I started spending more time at the studio and in order to pay, I started selling drugs.
One day my best friend and I were robbed, shot and left for dead. I survived being shot in the face, my best friend wasn’t so fortunate. I was suffering from survivors guilt, and I reacted off that and there’s not a day that I don’t regret it.
I’m a much different person than I was back then, and all the glory be to God. When I’m released, I just want to leave this all behind me and go on with the rest of my life. I want to use the rest of my life trying to make a difference in this world.
I love to laugh and help others, spend time in the kitchen and fix things around the house. I love country music and the rural life, and would love to live in the country upon release. I think horses are fascinating and beautiful creatures. I value honesty and respect, and I believe in doing unto others as I would have them do unto me.
I hope this gives you some idea of where I’ve been, as well as where I’m trying to go in life. Hopefully you will come along for the ride. Thank you for reading this and I can’t wait to hear from you, have a blessed day!
